| Super Mario Kart - Review
As soon as you put the cartridge in. Turn on the SNES. You feel a moment of nostalgia; the moment you see the title screen with all of the characters whizzing past, and that jazzy title screen music. Then you press start and have a look at the cups. Which one to pick? You select one and the race begins!
Right at the start of the race. A cloudy thing magiggy comes in front of you (Lakitu) with a set of start lights. Then suddenly the lights go green and all of the characters are off. Mario, Luigi, Toad, Koopa, Toadstool, Bowser, Donkey Kong Jr. and Yoshi.

Super Mario Kart was the first of it's genre; kart-racing. Many games now try to imitate the pleasures that Super Mario Kart gave to its players. The unique system of using weapons whilst your racing to stop opponents. . Go over a question box and suddenly you have a box that rapidly change the items like a slot machine. Press a button to select one or just wait till it randomly selects one.
A green shell to directly hammer an opponent. Red shell to home in on someone in front. A banana to make someone slip. A feather to jump. The items are mint, and bring Mario originality into the game. It just gets a bit irritating when you get hit by a green shell right of yer ass. Anyhoo, it's a nice feeling whacking someone with a shell, and seeing 'em spin out of control.
When you come in first place you see your character happily driving with a flag with all the losers behind! Ha ha! Suckers. As for when you win the cup. I can't tell you what happens. It'll ruin it for you!

The graphics are a pleasure to look at in their colourful vibrant Nintendo Marioish feel. The animation is smoother than Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk, for saying its a SNES game. The screen is split into two, showing the racer on the top, and the map at the bottom. Pretty useful! You can also use the map, to look at oncoming opponents trying to wham a shell up yer ass.
The sound is traditional Nintendo music. The chimes may have you humming annoyingly to them, or humming with pleasure! The challenge of the game is pretty good. It's the hardest Mario Kart game to me in my opinion. The only one that has really given me a run for my money. Enough of 1P mode. Lets talk about the multiplayer!
Multiplayer; you can race or you can BATTLE!!! The highlight of all Mario Kart games. Battle Mode. Only two players can play. In an arena you face your opponent. Lakitu comes, gives his beeps, then your off. Go over a "?" mark block and grab an item. Then whack your opponent to see one of his balloons pop! Each player has three balloons. Pop 'em all, and you've won. Lose all of your own balloons and you cry and lose. Boo-hoo! But don't cry, you can always play again!
Now in conclusion, the game has an addictivity and a challenge, that merely makes me want to play it again. That kind of feeling doesn't come often on most games, but it does on this game. So I'm gonna have to give this game a happy...
